The species
pinniped, allegedlyThe markings stayed tabby. The silhouette did not. Somewhere between the shoreline and the pack ice the legs gave up, the spine rounded out, and what climbed back onto the floe was a cat with flippers and a tail that still flicks when it is annoyed.
It keeps the cat parts that matter: the stare, the whiskers, the complete refusal to be picked up. Everything else is blubber and opinions.

The range problem
sightingsA harp seal has a range. A house cat has a range. Seal Cat has a collection of photographs taken in places that do not share an ocean, a climate, or in one case an atmosphere. Every frame has been checked. Every frame is the same animal.
It looked up for the whole display and put its head down when the sky went dark.field log · day 031

A seal does not guard the whole floe. It picks one patch, lies on it, and lets the rest of the ice belong to whoever hauls out next. Fair launch, no presale, no team unlock schedule written in a font nobody can read. The chart is the chart; the cat is still asleep.
